John Chuo, MD

John Chuo, MD, FAAP, MS, is Assistant Professor of Neonatology, UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Chuo did his undergraduate studies at Cornell University and earned a BA in Biological Sciences with distinct honors in Neurobiology. He subsequently earned an MD degree as well as completed a 3 year Pediatric residency from New York University School of Medicine. Subsequently, he moved to Boston where he completed a fellowship in Neonatology at Children’s Hospital Boston and earned a masters degree in Biomedical Informatics thru the Harvard-MIT Health Science and Technology program.

He moved to New Jersey in 2004 to join the faculty of the UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2004.

Dr. Chuo is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and is licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey. He is a Fellow of the American College of Pediatricians. He is also a member of the society of American Academy of Pediatrics, Medical Decision Making, Healthcare Information and Management Systems, and American Medical Informatics Association. He serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics Steering Committee on Clinical Information Technology.

Dr. Chuo’s current activities include clinical practice in Neonatology, chief programmer of the clinical information systems used in the NICU at RWJUH, and chair of the RWJUH-BMSCH Women and Children IT advisory Committee. His research focuses on the application of machine learning and statistical process control methods to quality improvement and prediction modeling.

Currently, Dr. Chuo serves on the board of directors at Medical Data Solutions. His past accomplishments include chief architect and programmer of several PDA programs including CodeKeeper, Neohelp, and KidCompanion for the PocketPC. In 2003, he co-authored a chapter in the Manual of Neonatal Care on Acid-Base Physiology and Pulmonary Function Monitoring.
