Dr.Stanley Cohen is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at
the UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School. He is responsible for the scientific,
educational, and clinical activities of the Department. His major area of
research is the role of cytokines in the regulation of cell proliferation
with specific attention to neoplastic disease. His clinical interests relate
to the application of state-of-the-art methodologies in molecular pathology
and bioimaging for the provision of therapeutic and prognostic information
to clinicians as an adjunct to traditional morphologic analysis.
He is currently working towards the establishment of telepathology via virtual
microscopy for clinical interactions within the University Hospital as a
model for the ultimate extension to the entire UMDNJ hospital community as
well as the emerging Cancer Center at NJMS. Dr. Cohen has served as a Member
of the Center for Theoretical Biology at SUNY Buffalo and participated on
the
Editorial
Board
of the Journal of Theoretical
Biology.
He has published several articles in mathematical biology. More recently
he was a member of the Core Planning Faculty of the Molecular Biology and
Biotechnology Program at Hahnemann University. He served as a reviewer for
the Science and Technology Foundation of the Ministry of Science and Technology
of Lisbon, Portugal in 2002.
