Dr. Syed Haque is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Informatics,
and Director of Graduate
Programs in Biomedical Informatics at the UMDNJ-School of Health Related
Professions. From its inception in 1988-89 to present, He has been responsible
for initiating, developing and implementing the UMDNJ-SHRP’s Graduate Programs
in Biomedical Informatics. Development of these Master’s and Ph.D. degree
programs (and a post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program) alone involved all
the multi-faceted tasks and processes that ranged from initiating the Preliminary
Program Announcement, performing market needs analysis, to developing the
Program Approval Document (including the detailed outlines for all the courses),
and short-term and long-range financial plans.
As the Chair of the Department and Director of the UMDNJ-SHRP Graduate Programs
in Biomedical Informatics, Dr. Haque has the privilege coupled with responsibility
for advertising the program, recruiting, interviewing, and enrolling students;
for advertising and recruiting highly qualified faculty for these programs;
recruiting and coordinating clinical faculty of the program; and for
day-to-day administration and management of the programs.
Some of Dr. Haque’s areas of research interest in Biomedical Informatics
include: (1) Health Care Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery Solutions, (2)
Design of Intelligent Training Systems, and (3) Surveillance Techniques and
Health Care Outcomes Research.
