Dr. Bin Tian received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the
Department of Biochemical Engineering at East China University of Science
and Technology, Shanghai, China. He then studied in the Graduate School of
Biomedical Sciences at UMDNJ, Newark for his PhD under the guidance
of Dr. Michael B. Mathews. After his graduation in 2000, he joined the Bioinformatics
and Genomic Technology group in the R.W. Johnson Pharmaceutical Research
Institute, San Diego for postdoctoral training. In early 2003, he came to
the Department
of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School
to assume his current position as an Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics
and Molecular Biology.
Dr. Tian has been awarded numerous honors in his career including a silver
medal in the 4th National Invention Exhibition of China, Predoctoral fellowship
from the American Heart Association, and Stanley S. Bergen Jr., MD Medal
of Excellence from UMDNJ.
Dr. Tian's lab is interested in studying post-transcriptional
gene regulations using tools of genome informatics and high-throughput
technologies. Their long-term goal is to systemically understand the post-transcriptional
events in eukaryotic organisms.
